Son of a blacksmith, much of Jim’s early education was received from a boy’s boarding school taught by Oblate Priests. After 25 years of military service within the Combat Systems Engineering Department in the Canadian Forces, Jim attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer 1st Class and retired with Certificate of Service and Canadian Decoration.
Jim married his Nova Scotia bride Ellen, his support and constant companion thirty-five years ago. Together they have a son, a daughter and two wonderful grandchildren.

Jim knows lobster fishing!
Jim is no stranger to the ocean after serving 25 yrs in the navy. Jim visited South Shore St. Margaret’s where Captain Joe Larkin, planned a day out on a 40′ commercial lobster boat, in Lobster Bay, Nova Scotia. Jim heard first-hand the issues facing the lobster fisheries, such as the effect scallop draggers are having on the lobster beds.

Jim is the owner of the largest Hunting, Fishing and Taxidermy store in Nova Scotia.
Jim’s extensive experience in the area of hunting and fishing began as a child. From six to eight years of age, Jim lived with the Ojibwa People in Long Lac, Ontario, where his (adopted uncles) taught him about trapping beaver and hunting black bears. Later during his teen and adult years, he found himself fishing in Northern Ontario & Manitoba for Walleye, Sturgeon, Perch, Northern Pike and more.
