If the CCMV by-election were held today, for whom would you vote? (October 15, 2009 to October 17, 2009)
Jim Hnatiuk – Christian Heritage Party 40%
Scott Armstrong – Conservative Party 23%
Jason Blanch – Green Party 5%
Jim Burrows – Liberal Party 14%
Mark Austin – NDP 17&
The riding was previously held by a one-time Conservative, Bill Casey, who was kicked out of the Tory caucus by Prime Minister Harper after he voted against the budget, which he felt violated the Atlantic Accord. Mr. Casey then sought re-election as an Independent, and won an overwhelming 69 per cent victory.
Since Mr. Casey stepped down, the seat has no incumbent. No other party has addressed the very real concerns expressed by voters over the issues of ballooning government, fiscal accountability, increasing taxes, job security, or policies to strengthen families. Mr. Hnatiuk is the only candidate who will defend both fiscal and social conservatism.
Jim Hnatiuk served his country for 25 years in the Canadian Navy, and is a successful businessman, owning the province’s largest hunting and fishing supply business. He is committed to bringing his business and strategic skills to the service of the voters in Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley.
